This is Lara’s foal, Maverick. Lara was bought to Faugere with Belle and Apollo, all of who we are working with. Belle will not engage with a human at all. Lara was quite aggressive to start with, and then gave Faugere Association a surprise in Maverick. Apollo is still very young and has had little handling. You can follow their stories separately.
When Lara had had enough of Maverick around her feet, he was put with Apollo, and the two calm older horses (MIck & Kesh) in the video, provide male and female herd teaching for them.
The intention (as with all rescue centres) is to eventually move these two youngsters into good homes, but first they will need to be taught about the human world they are likely to encounter.
Maverick is 11 months old now and we are not sure how old Apollo is.
This video is one of many little sessions with them to help them gain confidence with humans, and understand human things, human, toys, and human energy. The other side of this teaching is to help them find a peaceful way of managing their own emotions around humans.
