The sacral chakra, known as Svadhisthana chakra, is the second of the seven main chakras and is associated with emotion, creativity, and desire.

The sacral chakra is your emotional and creative center—it influences how you feel, experience pleasure, and connect with others.

It’s connected to:

  • Emotions and emotional flow
  • Pleasure and enjoyment
  • Creativity and imagination
  • Relationships and intimacy

You may feel:

  • Emotionally open and flexible
  • Creative and inspired
  • Comfortable with pleasure and enjoyment
  • Able to connect with others

A blocked or underactive sacral chakra can show itself as:

  • Emotional numbness
  • Lack of creativity
  • Difficulty enjoying life
  • Fear of intimacy

An over active sacral chakra can look like:

  • Emotional overwhelm
  • Over indulgence (seeking pleasure excessively)
  • Mood swings or dependancy

People who work with the sacral chakra often focus on:

  • Creative activities (art, music, writing)
  • Movement (dance, fluid exercise)
  • Exploring emotions through journaling
  • Spending time near water or using visualization

A balanced sacral chakra aids in balancing the pancreas. It also is linked to the kidneys, bladder, and reproductive system. Problems in any of these areas often times show an unbalanced sacral chakra, which suggests an emotional block around pleasure, sometimes caused by guilt. There is also a link to a fear of abandonment.

Enhancing Self Awareness enables us to sense when the body is signalling that a story we are telling ourselves needs to be changed from within. Understanding our thoughts, emotions and physical body, as well as our patterns and habits, enables us to see where we are stuck and make changes which then enhance our physical health.
