The crown chakra, known as Sahasrara chakra, is the seventh and highest of the main chakras and is associated with awareness, meaning, and a sense of connection to something larger than yourself.

The crown chakra is about your highest level of awareness—how you understand life, purpose, and your place in the bigger picture.

It’s connected to:

  • Sense of meaning or purpose
  • Awareness and consciousness
  • Reflection and wisdom
  • Feeling connected (to nature, humanity, or something greater)

You will typically feel:

  • A sense of clarity and understanding
  • Peaceful and reflective
  • Open-minded and aware
  • Connected to a bigger perspective on life

A blocked or underactive crown chakra will often show itself as:

  • Feeling disconnected or lost
  • Lack of direction or meaning
  • Closed-mindedness

An over active crown chakra could show itself as:

  • Over thinking abstract ideas
  • Feeling disconnected from reality i.e too in your head.

People who work with the crown chakra often focus on:

  • Meditation and quiet reflection
  • Contemplating big-picture questions
  • Mindfulness and presence
  • Spending time in silence or nature

A balanced crown chakra aids in balancing the pituitary gland. It also is linked to the nervous system and the overall endocrine system. Problems in any of these areas often times show an unbalanced crown chakra, which suggests an emotional block around belief systems, sometimes caused by ego attachment, and often by fears of betrayal – being betrayed or betraying.

Enhancing Self Awareness enables us to sense when the body is signalling that a story we are telling ourselves needs to be changed from within. Understanding our thoughts, emotions and physical body, as well as our patterns and habits, enables us to see where we are stuck and make changes which then enhance our physical health.

So, with the crown chakra, understanding our spiritual path and defining our belief system and values can be a first step to balancing the crown chakra and its associated physical systems. Letting go of feelings of betrayal also goes a long way to supporting our crown chakra. These fears of betrayal tend to be around our belief systems, whether they be spiritual, religious, or values based.
