The Trust technique consultation was the consultation that gives us the starting point for Yvonne and Britt’s journey. At this point we understood she was suffering lameness intermittently and that she wasn’t wholly herself. She was later diagnosed with PSSM 1 and became a volunteer with The Animal Connection and Beyond Association.
The Trust Technique Consultation introduces the technique of creative reaction. It is instruction of how to find the Present Moment, how to allow thoughts to go through without engaging with them, and how to then regard Britt. We create a feeling of peace (the Present Moment) and then watch how Britt responds to the feeling.
Britt’s initial response to the offer of peace by the practitioner was to say ‘I can’t be peaceful because I want to eat’. Then we moved on to I can’t be peaceful because I have something to share with you and Yvonne in a different location, which turned out to be a section of the horse track near where Yvonne buried her dog. It was a sad moment but also a moment of release. The entire herd responded to this conversation by galloping around the track and then becoming peaceful. We cannot say wholly intellectually what the underlying stories and feelings were her except that it was necessary and needed and Britt showed the way because we allowed her to respond to our Present Moment.
The rest of the consultation was teaching you, Yvonne, to find the Present Moment with Britt, and to start learning how to regard her.
We did not detail an action plan from this consultation except to practice the Creative Reaction Technique as often as possible until you found your Present Moment becoming stronger, but also that your Regard was improving as well. The key is not to be present all the time. The key is to be able to Regard from a place of peace, of non-thinking, which then allows you to sense what Britt is telling you.
The video gives us a good sense of Britts physicality at that moment in time.
